Register to Vote

- Register to vote online (NC driver’s license or ID required for this option)
IF you need to register to vote or update your voter registration, some options, provided it is at least 6 days before early in-person voting begins, are:

- Get paper application (if you have neither an NC driver’s license or ID) (Spanish version).
If you do not have the ability to print, please call your county Board of Elections and ask them to mail you a paper form. See table at the bottom of this page for County Board of Elections’ websites where you can find contact information.
If it is less than 6 days before early voting begins, then, during the early in-person voting period, you may do same day registration and voting.

Make sure you are still registered to vote and that the Board of Elections has your current address.
Note: after you verify that you are registered to vote, you can click your name to check your sample ballot, the status of an absentee ballot request if you made one, a listing of your jurisdictions (districts, precincts, etc.), and your election day polling place.
Vote by Mail – Step by step guide
Request an absentee ballot through the NC Absentee Ballot Request Portal. You do not need a medical or other reason for doing so. Make this request as soon as you can before the deadline. The last day to request an absentee ballot for a given election is the Tuesday before the election day. 2025 Municipal Elections – Early Voting Schedule

- Early in-person voting for the general municipal elections begins Oct. 16, 2025.
- You can vote at any early voting site in your county during early voting.
- Also, beginning October 16, check www.Vote411.org for unedited information from participating candidates for offices that are on your ballot.

On election day, you must vote at your precinct polling location. Your precinct polling place can be found through www.Vote411.org by simply entering your residential address.
