Reforming Cash Bail in NC:

Challenges and Opportunities

The League of Women Voters Criminal Justice Roundtable presents Peter van Dorsten with the NC Interfaith Cash Bail Reform movement, who will address the injustice of the for-profit cash bail system in North Carolina. He will explain how this system puts an undue burden on the poor.

Mr. van Dorsten, now retired, worked for IBM for 42 years in various sales, management, and consulting positions. His work with NC Interfaith Cash Bail Reform is to enlist support of religious and civic-minded groups from across the state to advocate for replacing for profit cash bail with fair, just, safe, effective and less costly alternatives to pretrial detention.
